In general, this is also going to be shameless plugging for archers, gunners, and Libras. This is the only way I know how to do things and hopefully at the end I'll have made a point. Though I certainly am not going to promise that I will. As Rowen is one of the first archer/gunner types that I encountered, I'm starting to think part of my love started with him (although, I know exactly where it started).
Okay, I'm going
to start with the most basic idea here. I like gunners. Since guns
inevitably replaced bows, I also like archers. I like long ranged
weapons, because the people that use them tend to be extremely awesome.
The first site I ever made was for a gunner and some of my favorite
works of my own are for gunners (proof: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6). The bow was one thing that drew me to Rowen
because it was something so vastly different than the normal idea of
samurai. My initial watching of Ronin Warriors happened when it first
aired on Toonami and thus I was unaware that the samurai had a very
specific form of archery. In general gunners and archers tend to be
aloof but usually also tend to be logical and to the point. In many
cases they would do anything to protect those they love and unless you
know them, they come off as cold and aloof. Rowen actually tends to be
pretty friendly in the anime. As I mentioned earlier, I was surprised
by how disjointed he was in the Drama CDs in which he had a hard time
getting along with everything. However, gunners and archers tend to be
loners, they don't usually know how to interact with people because
they're used to doing things on their own. I value intellect and
independence. In Rowen's case, he's also very capable and works well in
a team. He has a valuable role and despite being an archer is treated
as an extremely capable and valued member. As a kid, it was that he was
smart, liked to study, and yet he was a valued member of the
team (something I longed for).
As I did more research on Rowen for this site, I found I still valued his intellect, but that I also valued his no nonsense approach to dealing with things. Waiting was a good idea because it meant that they could prevent further damage. Although he wanted the same things as his friends, he prioritized in a way that made more sense. He wasn't going to risk more friends to save missing friends. He wanted to be able to solve the problem not just take it as they came. Something that I have always felt was the best way to approach things. Rowen has the ability to look at the whole picture. Something that is not entirely exclusive to archers or gunners but something that seems enhanced by the fact that he's a Libra.
In addition he happens to share a zodiac sign with two of my favorite guys in existence, Vincent Valentine from Final Fantasy VII and Xanxus from Katekyou Hitman Reborn. Of which, Xanxus and Rowen actually share a birthday as they were both born on October 10. In fact, Vincent and Xanxus are gunners too. I emphasize my favorite because although I have lots of guys I like in media, these two (along with Rowen) tend to be among the top of my list always. If I had to keep only three sites, you can bet that these three guys would meet the cut. So, I think my real point is that the guys I tend to like the most all tend to be Libra with guns (or bows). Personality wise the only traits that they really share are the fact that they are extremely skilled warriors that would do anything to achieve their goals. They also tend to be more emotionally distant and with the exception of Xanxus, care deeply. Rather, Xanxus tends to care mostly about himself and raising himself above others. That aside, all three are extremely intelligent and capable of being the worst guys you'd ever have to fight. On the outside they can be calm, cool, and collected. You might never be able to guess what they're thinking. To the point and capable of doing anything that they set their minds to, they can be the most violent of storms.
