Cool, aloof, and duty-driven Mitsuru is a third year student at Gekkoukan High school. She serves as the leader of SEES as well as the Student Council President. She is well liked by her peers but keeps everyone at arm's length. She has responsibilities not only as leader for the school but as the heir to the Kirijo Group which funds the school. She values education and intelligence and believes in doing the right thing. Mitsuru is to the point and keeps much to herself, including her suffering and strife.
She trusts very few people and is quick to give out orders and rebukes where necessary. She will not put up with wrong doings (even from friends) and believes that she is an example to her peers. She lives by very strict guidelines, but rarely shows how stifling it is for her. Instead, she devotes her time to be the model student and daughter. Although, those she does trust and know well, know better than to cross her.
Everything she does is for the betterment of Kirijo group and she often considers the best way to approach the things she should be doing less often considering the things she wants. She has a very giving nature but can be very harsh when pushed or betrayed.
Because I value education and doing what one has to before what one wants too, I feel very close to Mitsuru. She is a very giving person and she tolerates a lot of things (mostly that have to do with herself) but she will not hesitate to defend her friends with every inch of her being to the offender's complete destruction (another trait I know well). She tries to be warm and friendly but because she keeps much to herself, I find it hard for people to trust her or to open up to her. They want too, I think, but it's hard because Mitsuru always has these underlying thoughts and responsibilities. She tries to find the best way to present herself and be a role model. I think in part that she forgets a little trust would go a very long way. Though I don't blame her for keeping things to herself, especially since she knows the demons that sleep in the Kirijo closets. She spends so much of her time cleaning up a mess that is not her own, I feel that she takes on too much responsibility and that without SEES she would shatter her own heart.
On a side note, after some research at http://www.kabalarians.com, Mitsuru is associated with "responsible, systematic, and practical nature" these things fit Mitsuru very well and I find it charming that the description should be so on the dot. A quick overview of the name relates Mitsuru as a methodical and practical woman that can be very inflexible when pushed and notes that personal or artisitic expression can be limited. This fits very well with her being in a lead position, especially one that doesn't allow her to make too many personal choices. Mitsuru can also mean "abundance" which describes how much she has (both in life as a Kirijo and as far as her friendships go in SEES). Oddly enough, Mitsuru is more commonly a boy's name, which would then define as being more technical, goal oriented, and my personal favorite that "there is a seriousness to your nature which could cause you to worry over your responsibilities, especially when confronted with change and uncertainty." For me this is important because Mitsuru is the only daughter of the Kirijo and takes everything so seriously. SEES isn't just an after school club, it's her promise to her father to clean up her grandfather's mess.
