Motocycles

Mitsuru keeps much to herself and she lives as every good model young woman should. She is modest, she is respectful, and she does what she thinks will be best as an example for others to follow. For those reasons, I was stunned when she initially showed up on a motorcycle! I admire Mitsuru for being strong (on the outside) and independent, but when I saw her ride up I couldn't help but think she wanted to live a little more dangerously than she was often allowed too. I expected that she might have a chauffeur or something - you know, that she would be escorted places. That doesn't fit at all with her do it herself attitude. More than that, though, I think that her riding gives her some freedom she doesn't have otherwise.

While hanging out with Mitsuru, she mentions playing a motorcycle game. I like that she's impressed with it, especially since it's a much safer environment to try it out on. I like that she mentions that too. I think that Mitsuru chose a quick and easy means of transportation (it lets her move around quickly, gas mileage is good, it's sleek, and it's to the point). In addition, it's more dangerous than a care (there's a lot of rules and safety things you need to learn) and I think that part of it gives her a feeling she can't get anywhere else. I feel that she made the choice to be quick and effective but I think it also gives her a thrill that lets her know that she's alive. Even if it's for a moment. I don't think she's necessarily trying to be reckless (she still wears a helmet and during the winter she wears proper arm and leg protection too). I think rather she's trying to feel alive when she has so much weighing on her heart and mind.

I also believe that if the Dark Hour hit, it would be much easier to get out of or move around than a car, making it a lot more effective to maneuver. Mostly, I believe it shows a wilder side of Mitsuru without fully intending too. There are several practical reasons she could do it (effective cost wise, might be the main). But I think that it provides a light escape, something that people don't expect from her. I think it is one thing that shows her layers, stating, there's a lot more to me than you think there is. It's almost a subtle way for her so say "Look at me. There's more here." All of that aside, I think it's really cool!
