Sacrificial Altar
After becoming the Pillar, Tim learns that his destiny is to die. He understands why Collette was so thankful that he would be so selfless as to take the trial for her. He understands the concept of his sacrifice. He fights against it. Tim does not believe that dying will solve the problem. He believes it would treat the symptoms of destruction, but it does not break the cycle. If he dies, he will save the world. But what happens when the world faces danger again? He knows that there is the possibility of something happening in the future. In which, his death ultimately saves the present but does not promise a lasting future. Perhaps as part of Ashely's influence, Tim believes that if he can save it with his own two hands and survive - that's what he should be doing. If he fights with every bit of his might and dies, so be it. But he will not simply die for the sake of it if there is something else that he can do. Tim's stubbornness eventually becomes Pooka's stubbornness.
Tim goes to the Altar with the rest of ARMs to speak to the Guardians. There he decides that he will not die for the sake of the world. He wants to live in the world. He wants to experience it with every fiber of his being. He wants to find a way to save the world without sacrificing anyone. Tim admits he's terrified to die and that's one reason he's against it. He also believes that there has to be another way if enough people wish and fight for it. When the Guardians start to get annoyed with Tim, they ask Pooka for his opinion. Pooka sides with Tim stating that he must follow Tim's decisions and that he will help Tim find the "right one". The Guardians decide that if Tim is not willing to die, they cannot accept him as a sacrifice. Thus, they allow him and Pooka to leave and search for an answer to their questions and heart's desires. Pooka stands up for Tim, sides with him, for me this is where Pooka starts to realize that he is developing a sense of self. He's questioning his role and believes that Tim will ultimately lead them to the answer that they seek.
The three statues of the Guardian Lords of Love, Courage, and Hope can also be found in the Sacrificial Altar with some looking. They hold little bits of story if their sidequests are completed. There are specific story moments for Ashley (Hope), Brad (Courage), and Tim (Love). They are the most powerful mediums within the game and can only be used by Tim and Pooka once Hi-Combo has been obtained. I always get them because the three Lords represent forces that are intertwined within each element of the story and world. It seems silly (to me at least) not to awaken the Guardian Lords and solidify Tim's desire to protect the world with every ounce of his being. It is only through an awakened Pooka that they can even be summoned. Thus I feel it is important to collect and awaken the Guardian Lords as one of Tim and Pooka's measures to ensure that they are looking for alternate and lasting methods to protecting all of Filgaia. It is through these three Guardian Lords that I feel Tim and Pooka can say, "We have done everything, we found everything, we found another way." These three ideals (Love, Hope, and Courage) support the party and it seems only fitting to awaken their Guardians. For Tim and Pooka, I believe that being the Pillar meant to be someone that could support and fight for Filgaia rather than die for it.
